Activities of PWMC "SRBIJAVODE"

Basic activities of PWMC “SRBIJAVODE”, as activities of public interest (as defined by the Law on Waters and the Law on Classification of Activities and Registry of Classification Units), are:
 

Managing the water resources:

• monitoring of realization and implementation of water management elements;
• issuing water management approvals and licenses;
• preserving and maintaining water regimes;
• upgrading and developing water regimes;
• organizing and conducting study work in water management;
• drawing up water balances;
• drawing up the registry of water management facilities and water contaminators;
• controlling the utilization of and protecting the waters against pollution;

Water utilization:

• providing and supplying water for various kinds of utilization and consumption, except distribution to households and other types of mass consumption;
• maintenance of water utilization and consumption facilities and plants;

Protection from harmful effects of waters:

• protection from floodings and ice;
• protection from erosion and torrent management;
• land drainage;
• minor watercourses diversion works;
• extraction of sand, gravel and stone for the purpose of maintaining and upgrading water regimes;
• maintenance of facilities and plants used for protection against harmful effects of waters;
• development of technical documents, reconstruction and construction of minor facilities and plants used for protection against harmful effects of waters;
 

Protection of waters against pollution:

• taking measures to protect waters from pollution;
• draining of waste waters of the industry, mining and agriculture and any other pollution types, apart from atmospheric waters, waters from residential areas and household waste waters;
• reduction of polluting effects due to damaging pollution of watercourses, lakes and underground waters.

The following activities also fall under the tasks to be performed by PWMC:

• running the waterworks;
• organizing and implementing protection against floods;
• organizing and taking measures for protection against torrents and erosion;
• draining excess waters and organizing protection against inland waterways in land reclamation areas;
• carring out works related to investments in construction and reconstruction of waterworks;
• developing technical documents related to water management;
• maintenance and reconstruction of waterworks;
• preparation of plans and programs in water management;
• organizing and running water management information system and documents on waters;
• carring out tasks and international contracts regarding water management.

In order to make its business more complete, more efficient and cost-effective, the Public company can perform other activities in its area of responsibility, as long as these activities belong to its primary activities:

• growing and exploitation of forests;
• services in growing and exploitation of forests;
• fishing on rivers and lakes;
• spawning and breeding of fish in fisheries;
• wood and construction material wholesaling;

Other architectural and engineering activities and technical advice:

• geodesic research: geodesic surveying, hydrographical measuring, border measuring, providing cartographic and terrain information, industrial and construction measuring.
