Water Supply

|
|
Water supply of the population
suggests provision of high quality water for:
Households,
Industry
which demands high quality water or which is
incorporated deep into the city area,
Other
consumers whose water usage is being notified and
charged (commercial activity)
Public
needs (institutions, schools, hospitals, organizations,
fountains, etc.)
Underground and surface waters are used as springs.
Approximately two thirds of the scooped water come from
surface and one third from underground waters. The
surface waters are used from river flows and
accumulations, while the used underground waters mainly
come from alluvial waters, waters from primary water
complexes, from karsts, from groundwaters within neogene
deposits and groundwaters of fissure porosity.
|
|
The largest
part of underground waters is scooped from alluvial
areas of river flows, however, a number of springs has
to be fostered with water from river flows. River flows
used as sources for water supply are being utilized with
the purpose of providing the following with water
supplies: the city of Belgrade, the municipalities of:
Arilje, Pozega, Lucani, Cacak and Gornji Milanovac.
There are immense restrictions on the utilization of
waters from river flows as drinking water sources due to
the quality demands and the required profusion. |
 |
|
The importance of the accumulations is clearly found in
their versatile role (the improvement of lesser
quantities of water, irrigation, protection against
flood waves, water supply of the population and the
industry, hydroelectricity, etc.).
Significant utilization of accumulations for the
purposes of water supply can be found in the regions of
Zlatibor ("Vrutci" and "Zlatibor" accumulations),
Sumadija ("Gruza" and "Grosnica" accumulations), as well
as "Celije", "Bovan", "Grliste", "Barje" and "Prvonek",
all being accumulations whose construction was completed
last year.
|
|
Some
multi–purpose accumulations are already in use for water
supply, and some accumulation facilities constructed for
hydroelectricity purposes have also been supposed to
function as sources for the water supply of the
population ("Sjenica" and "Kokin Brod" on the river Uvac,
"Vlasina" on the river Vlasina and "Zavoj" on the river
Visocica).
Currently, some extremely important water supplying
systems are being realized in Serbia, these being "Stubo–Rovni"
on the river Jablanica and "Selova" near Kursumlija. |
